For my second inquiry, I created a canned cocktail brand called Elixr. The mission of Elixr is to bring affordable, yet fresh canned cocktails for customers to enjoy at home, at the beach or at a party! I started off with the logo, I chose a serif font that felt luxurious, yet fun. I added a little lime slice onto the letter x in the logo to align with the cocktail theme. I then created the flat designs on Illustrator, with the hopes of putting them in Adobe dimension. I struggled a little with adobe dimension just because there was a learning curve but I enjoyed furthering my skills on that platform. In addition to packaging, I designed a website where you can buy our product and learn more about the brand. I used Figma to design the website and prototyped it to make a functional website. Overall I am proud of how this came together in the end and would love to continue work on this brand in the future.
When listening to the Debbie Millman podcast featuring Ping Zhu, it made me think about my origins in the design field and what made me want to design as a career. To see someone so successful and well-known is not only encouraging but really inspiring. It is kind of a cliche that artists don't make any money and it's a hard career to have. But Ping Zhu has been featured in many mainstream brands' marketing and children's book illustrations. It makes me more hopeful for my own future as a designer.
