Chapter 5 was all about visual appeal, the fundamentals of design, and what makes a design stand out. Landa discusses all the aspects of what makes a successful design. I feel like this is something I think about constantly wherever I go, and even before I was pursuing a career in design. Visual appeal is everything, it is what can make or break your brand. When I go to the grocery store and I see a well-designed product packaging, it makes me want to buy it. I am definitely not the only one who feels this way, as Landa expressed in the introduction. The visuals in brand design specifically are meant to create an identity for the brand, drawing customers in. Landa stated "Effective design influences people", I think people underestimate the power a great design has over any other marketing strategy or business plan. If you can create an effectively designed packaging, book cover, or logo, you can influence people.
